Text Box: January for posting and scheduled four off season revision dates in January and February of 2008. As such, scores entered will not remain in limbo until our first revision date as they were in the past.
This season your Board Of Directors has approved a new trophy to be awarded at the end of this 2008 season to a member who is the Liberty Lake/MeadowWood Mens Golf Club's Most Improved Player. The method for determining a club's most improved player is a complex formula used by USGA who also provides a computer generated report by which they calculate this improvement factor for every player who improved during the year. Formula used by USGA is equitable in gauging the improvement of players encompassing the entire spectrum of handicaps. This ensures all levels of players, low handicaps to high, have the same opportunity to compete. The player with the highest improvement factor at the end of our season will receive this honor, and award, for being the "Most Improved Player". Your Board Of Directors has added one additional requirement to this process; to be eligible, member must have participated in at least five (5) of our ten (10) scheduled Men's Golf Club Tournaments in 2008. Please remember the most improved player is not selected by your Handicap or Text Box: Snow balls flying, cold wind blowing, cabin fever, and a tough winter almost behind us. Anybody looking for spring and another year of exciting tournaments and good old skin games? Well, keep the faith because our first revision will be out on March 12, 2008.
It is required that each Golf Club who issues USGA Handicap Indexes shall appoint a Handicap Committee to ensure the integrity of the handicaps so issued. This year, your committee is Jon Solberg, Tom Rau and Cecil Main.
The WSGA observes an "inactive" score posting season each year from November 16th to the last day of February in our area. Scores made in areas observing active seasons, such as Arizona and California, at any time, must be posted. Clubs in non-GHIN states are connected with WSGA clubs through IGN. If a golfer belongs to a non-GHIN club in another area, please contact the WSGA Handicapping Department (1-800-643-6410) to link the two numbers. A golfer need only post those out of area scores once after the link is established. WSGA members that play in active season areas during the winter but do not join a club in that area, can post their scores via the internet (www.thewsga.org or GHIN.com) or otherwise return them to their golf club here in the Northwest. This year GHIN accepted scores in Text Box: Tournament Committee but by the system devised by USGA.
The deletion date for un-paid dues has been moved up to April 30, 2008. Anyone who is deleted for nonpayment will loose his handicap privileges and will not be eligible for tournament play. Keep in mind once a course is open, and on at least 13 permanent greens, you must post your score. New members must have at least 5 scores to establish a handicap trend, and 20 posted scores for the GHIN system to issue a USGA handicap index.
Any questions regarding handicaps, or, if new members have concerns about posting, please contact me or any committee member. We are here to help the membership understand all facets of the handicap system.

I might mention one other achievement of your "Past President" Brian Baker who "unfortunately" moved to Madison, WI. He scored his first hole- in- one, 203 yard 17th, using a 5- iron, September 15, 2007, at the Oaks Golf Course in Madison. He waited until he moved so he would not have to pick up the bar tab. Congratulations Brian, and remember you are missed by your Club Members.

Treasurer’s Report by cecil main

Handicap Report by jim scott

Another year has gone by and what a season we had for golf, the Men’s club was able to add $8,432.00 to our tournaments.  We had a total membership of 585 of which 7 were juniors, we were down 60 members from last year, I hope that we can get them back for the coming year. The dues will be $ 50.00 for adults and $10.00 for junior members.  Junior members if you receive a white application in the mail you will have to acquire a green copy, from one of our pro shops. Please include your date of birth on the application, as we have to enter this information to Washington State Golf Association. There has been one change for junior golfers by Washington State Golf Association and it reads, Golfers 18 years old and under as of January 1, 2007 (born in 1989 or after) will be identified as a “Junior”

member.

PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY on the application so that we can read them. If we could get your application as soon as possible, that would help me to make up the budget for the coming year. If your address changes during the golf season, please notify the pro shop of the change, so we can keep your information current.

Also if you are planning to play in the Opening day tournament April 12 at Liberty Lake it would help if you paid your dues before that date.

Again we appreciate your donations to Junior Golf or the Memorial Scholarship Fund. Last year was a great success. With your donations of  $1,926.00 to Junior Golf and $1,291.00 to the Memorial Scholarship Fund, they

were able to have a great year..

We have 18 benches at Liberty Lake for sale, if you would like to have your company name on one please contact one of the board members  The cost is $ 200.00 per year.

Hope to see all of you on the golf links. If possible, bring a friend along,  encourage him to join our club and help strengthen our membership.  Don’t forget to check out the web site at www.meadowwoodgolf.com for more information.
